BARBARA (and Kenneth)

Imagine having hundreds of jobs and only being remembered for what you wear or the color of your hair.

Barbara has had enough! After decades of sexism in the workplace and scrutiny in the spotlight, she’s taking the stage to tell her story, in her own unauthorized and unhinged way with 8 original songs by Laws and Leavitt (and 1 Kenneth).

We’re bringing a version of Barbara (and Kenneth) to the Edinburgh Fringe August 2nd-17th (and NYC July 25th) and we want you to join us however you can.

meet the writers

Lauren Laws and Johnny C. Leavitt have written together for over a decade from various countries and cities.

Their mission is to use original music to tell stories that make people laugh and think while creating opportunities for actors to shine.

Barbara (and Kenneth) is a passion project of theirs. They wanted to write a scaled-down musical that could be easily produced by community theaters and small companies (or themselves), but with the glitz and spunk of a larger musical.

While the work is fiction, they put themselves and their personal experiences into every project.
